Great Food Pranks

In honor of that youthful holiday, April Fool’s Day, Epicurious has posted an article on celebrated food pranks in history. If you’re wondering what food and modern media have in common, perhaps an investigation into BBC’s great spaghetti hoax, which had hundreds of—dare we say—oblivious Brits phoning in and asking how to grow spaghetti trees in their yards, is in order. More jokes include a bogus promise of a lifetime 10% discount from major companies like Pepsi, Apple, and the Gap if their brand name was tattooed on peoples’ ears, and a full-page ad announcing that Taco Bell had purchased the Liberty Bell.
