Seafood Specials at Route 6

Route 6

Route 6 is Stephen Starr’s (owner of STARR Restaurants and the restaurateur who conceived popular establishments like El Vez, Morimoto, and Buddakan) new venture in the culinary community that offers a seasonal, sea-to-table menu, featuring cuisine that is praised from Maine to Maryland.

The establishment holds up to 150 patrons in an environment that mimics the relaxing lifestyle of the eastern shores. Here all of the senses are invigorated, whether by notes of oak from the wood-burning oven, the sounds of the grill, or the spectacle of the open kitchen, where chefs put on a show of culinary expertise to please the eyes and entertain the mind. Guests can also take a seat at the chef’s counter; with seating for 20 it is an ideal location to order dishes from the raw bar like The Wilkie, which consists of eight oysters, four Littleneck clams, Lump Crab Cocktail, ten shrimp, and one lobster. On warm summer nights, diners can enjoy their food and drink in the open-air courtyard, which is also the perfect place to soak up some sunshine during Sunday brunch. Each piece of Route 6 orchestrates the feeling of being right on the edge of Massachusetts Bay, indulging on freshly caught seafood, and provides a cozy atmosphere where patrons are sure to enjoy their experiences.

Satiate your taste buds with starting courses like Smoked Bluefish Dip, accompanied by horseradish crème fraiche and bagel chips, or a traditional Steamer platter, which comes with your choice of New England soft shell clams or Jersey Littlenecks, both doused with homemade broth and paired with drawn butter. Whatever your preference, Route 6 has a lovely selection of seafood starters that are certain to begin the night on a good note. Next, turn your focus to Route 6’s main entrees, which feature shack classics like meaty lobster on a buttered, split-top roll and Fried Shrimp with cocktail sauce and house fries. If these don’t tantalize your palate, catches like blue fish, rainbow trout, and red snapper (all of which come infused with a hint of cherry and oak notes from the wood-burning oven/grill) can easily satisfy your fix for something fresh from the sea.

For those looking to spend less and get more, Route 6 has an insane Happy Hour from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. every weekday in the bar, lounge, and patio, when they offer great specials like $1 Oysters on the half-shell, $6 Bluefish Dip, and $8 Fried Oyster Sliders with homemade chips. In addition, pair your happy hour dishes with $6 specialty cocktails, $4 draft beers, and $5 house wines to really get the night started. Delicious appetizers, tasty drinks, and low prices; it’s too good of a deal to pass up.

Stephen Starr’s Route 6 is a piece of Cape Cod nestled in the Fairmount District. Although Cape Code isn’t too far away, Route 6 is a great establishment that brings that cozy atmosphere a bit closer to home and serves up some great East-Coast cuisine for all to enjoy in the "City of Brotherly Love".
