Take a seat at San Diego's latest Table

Food

Innovative.  It’s the ubiquitous buzzword in the culinary and nightlife scenes these days.  It seems that if you aren’t innovative, you aren’t in business very long.  This is the lesson Owner and Executive Chef Matt Richman of Table 926 takes seriously with his innovative approach to his menu, blending the tastes of the Mediterranean with fresh ingredients indigenous to California.  He then like to give his dishes a Latino twist, utilizing popular dish concepts like street tacos and empanadas. Located on quiet Turquoise Street in north Pacific Beach, Table 926 is bringing a homegrown passion to San Diego’s rapidly growing (and ever imaginative) culinary scene.

The menu at Table 926 is constantly changing, reflecting their desire for fresh ingredients and inventive dishes.  The menu is currently offering delectable choices like Smoked Duck Breast Salad, with Suzie’s Farm mache (that’s a kind of lettuce.  Don’t worry, I had to look it up too.), grapefruit, and pomegranate vinaigrette, or the aforementioned Duck Carnitas ‘Street’ Tacos done on corn tortillas with pickled red onion, queso fresco, tomatillo-avocado, and smoked chili salsas, it is easy to see why Table 926 is rapidly becoming a ‘must-do’ on San Diegan’s lists all over town.  Looking for something a little more substantial?  Try the Glazed Pork Cheeks, with a guajillo-tamarind glaze, braised greens, and polenta.

It isn’t just the food either, the creative forces behind this restaurant know that ambiance is an important key in any successful night out.  Sporting clean lines and modern furniture, the décor accentuates the originative menu, rather than competes for attention.  And speaking of attention, you would be hard-pressed to not have yours immediately drawn to the wine display on the wall, backlit with a soft neon blue the impressive array of Californian and international wines brings a perfect balance of old world heritage with modern luxury.

If you’re looking for the perfect excuse to come in for the first time, there is a little day coming up that the folks at Table 926 like to call Valentine’s Day, and for that they’re rolling out a special three course menu with an optional wine pairing.  Sounds like a plan to me.
