Sake Tasting at Shimbashi Izakaya

Shimbashi Izakaya

With a name meaning “New Bridge” in Japanese, Shimbashi Izakaya is located in Del Mar and strives to bring only the freshest dishes to its diners. The menu changes throughout the year so that the dining options only contain the best ingredients of the season. Shimbashi Izakaya also offers diners an amazing ocean view from their patio, from which patrons can opt to enjoy their meal.

In this tradition of offering only the best, Shimbashi Izakaya is holding a special Sake Tasting and Food Pairing Event featuring professional Sake Sommelier Yoshi Murakami from Hiroshima, Japan. This guest specializes in pairing sake with untraditional dishes, and will guide diners through four different sake selections that have been specially paired with tapas-style food selections. The selections start off with Fukuju paired with Kobe-style beef tataki, followed by Zuikan with a fresh oyster. Diners will then sample the Tempouichi complemented by a grilled king crab leg, and end the tasting with Oigame with grilled tuna topped with miso paste.

This special event will take place Thursday, September 29th at 6:30 pm and comes at a cost of $75 per person. Because seats are limited, Shimbashi Izakaya advises making reservations as soon as possible.
