Donovan’s Steakhouse

When you really want to make a statement, you can do it with class at Donovan’s. This steakhouse is the place to host a black-tie affair. Guests can choose from four different dining rooms that host various sized parties. The Arizona Room is spacious enough to seat 120 guests, and can be divided into segments that seat 14 to 80 for smaller gatherings. This room is convenient to the wine and cocktail bar, which is located outside the private entry. The Old Biltmore Room is decorated with vintage photos of famous patrons from the past, as well as pale-green upholstery and antique wallpaper. It is well-suited to entertaining ten to 18 business associates, or hosting a small family party. The Sports Room is decorated with a masculine air, featuring antique photos from memorable Arizona sports moments and a television installed for sports-watching. The room accommodates ten to 18 guests and would be perfect for hosting a male-only affair. The Wine Room allows a windowed view into the vintage wine cellar and is perfect for formal dining with up to 14 guests. Just be aware that servers may have the need to sneak in and out during your gathering to retrieve wine selections.

At Donovan’s, valet parking is provided complimentary. All dining rooms (except the Wine Room) offer high speed internet, projection screens, podiums, and light dimming control. Menu options can be customized for groups of at least 19, priced from $50 to $79 per person, plus hors d’ouevres. Guests may also choose from one of the pre-fixe menus, priced at $45 to $87 per person. Groups of 18 or less are welcome to order from the main menu.

The Venue of Scottsdale

From the simple to elaborate, the Venue of Scottsdale is just pure fun. This is the place where legendary artists have rocked the stage and giant fundraisers have been hosted in first-class style. It’s a music venue that meets the standard for fine dining. Over 29,000 square feet of space can easily hold up to 1,300 people. Choose to rent the Main Courtyard, Billiards Bar (complete with pool tables), Bayou Bar, Comedy Room (complete with round comedy stage), Upstairs Ballroom, or VIP Lounge. Party packages are available and include all aspects of planning and event execution. This versatile space can easily become what you decide to make it, although theme parties here are the specialty. Past ideas have included Western, Biker, American, Mexican, French Quarter, 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, and Medieval themes. The Venue can take care of decorations, as well as create an appropriate menu through catering companies affiliated with this hot spot. Prices will vary and depend on your custom dining selection.

Bobby’s Restaurant, Jazz Lounge

At Bobby’s, music lovers are invited to dine on seafood, steaks, and Italian fare while enjoying a mix of lively contemporary jazz. The intimate private dining room is tucked away from the commotion of the main dining area, dimly lit with a contemporary atmosphere. It can easily accommodate up to 32 people. Guests may also rent out the upstairs or downstairs areas, which can handle groups of 190 combined. This unique venue features high ceilings, tasteful sculptures, and posters of famous jazz artists. The servers are experts at putting patrons at ease, whisking away plates, and keeping glasses filled so guests are never in want. The Italian and Mediterranean cuisine is available in custom, pre-set menus that average $83 per person. Groups are also welcome to order from the main menu, with entrees ranging from $18 to $39 per person. Bobby’s is willing to work with guests to meet most budgets.

Coup des Tartes

This French bistro offers private dining seven days a week in the quaint elegance of a 1930’s farmhouse. Serving patrons since 1997, Coup de Tartes offers guests an exclusive dining experience on land once used to farm artichokes and dates. The owner and chef have transformed the property into a fine dining setting, with soft candlelight, wood floors, and curved ceilings that encourage visitors to sit back and enjoy a quiet evening. The private Rendez-Vous room is a short walk through the foyer from the main dining room. It has been used in the past for company dinner meetings, baby showers, and rehearsal dinners, accommodating up to 38 guests. Adjacent to the Rendez-Vouz dining room is a private living room, which offers space to serve pre-meal drinks and appetizers while guests arrive to socialize. Four plated meal options are available and are priced from $70 to $135 per person.

House of Tricks

At this historic Tempe cottage, guests can choose to book a private event either indoors in one of the turn-of-the-century dining rooms or outside on the lighted patio with its trellis-covered garden bar. The outside of this brick-adobe home appears to be a simple residence, but inside, guests find it is a tranquil refuge. The House of Tricks serves “new American” cuisine, and can accommodate parties of 10 to 125. The restaurant will open occasionally for Sunday wedding receptions for parties of at least 80. Lunch entrees average $10, while evening main courses range from $20-30.
