Designing a Restaurant's Identity

In today’s restaurant culture it takes more than merely delicious, original cuisine to stand out.  A restaurant must create an image for itself—an identity.  Often times our minds go to architecture and décor, but what about the logo?  Graphic designer Louise Fili designs logos and images for restaurant names—logos that shape the restaurant’s identity  and often offer the first impression a customer will see, whether it be on the website, in a review, or upon entering the restaurant itself.  Logos can emphasize (or deemphasize) color, font, or graphics to reflect the character and spirit of the restaurant as well as the aspirations of those who created it.  Check out some of the great designs Fili has created for high-profile restaurants and restaurateurs at Zagat Buzz:
